First cleans and one off cleans

Your first window clean visit is subject to a one off surcharge of 50%. This is to cover the cost of the additional time taken during the initial clean as well as the use of any cleaning detergents that may have to be used. This higher cost is only for the first clean and all subsequent cleans will be at the lower, regular price.

One off cleans will be charged at double the normal rate.

Spotting after a first clean

While out ultra pure water is very good at leaving a spot free finish, sometimes if the windows have not been cleaned for a while, some spotting or streaks may appear after the clean. This is from either from the dirt being released from the top seal or from oxidised uPVC frames. This is normal and should stop after 2-3 cleans. We are more than happy to return if any spotting appears under our 24 hour clean guarantee.

How often will you visit?

We operate a 4 or 8 weekly cleaning frequency depending on your requirements. While we try our best to be on time, factors such as adverse weather, holidays, equipment failures or van maintenance may push the frequency back a little. Please be patient as we will be with you ASAP.

Adverse weather

We are happy to clean in light rain showers and even in snow. However, if it is raining heavily, too hot, very windy, freezing temperatures or close to freezing we reserve the right to reschedule an appointment.

What do you charge for window cleaning?

Our charges are generally based on how many windows and doors your property has. Once a price has been agreed with you, we promise that we will not increase the price for at least the next 12 months.

What is your minimum charge?

Our minimum charge for window cleaning is £12.

Minimum contract length

Unless otherwise agreed with you, we don’t offer ‘one off’ cleans. Our minimum contract length is 3 cleans. If you choose to cancel before this term is up you will still be liable for any remaining cleans up to and including the third clean.

Locked gates/holidays

Where homes have a locked gate we will always text in advance so that it can be left unlocked for us. If for any reason we can’t access the rear of the property we will just clean the front of the house and adjust our charge downwards to suit where the minimum charge or 2/3 full price will apply, whichever is higher.

How do I cancel the window cleaning service?

You are free to cancel our services at any time by giving 30 days prior notice which will allow us to fill your space with a replacement customer.  Please contact the office by phone, text or email and we will remove you from our books. Please note that the minimum contract term of 3 cleans will apply.

Open windows

We reserve the right to skip the cleaning of any open windows or roof-lights as our insurance will not cover us for any water damage caused to any internal items or furnishings if water is accidentally sprayed internally.  Damage may also be caused to our equipment or your window if we attempt to close any open windows with our brush or pole.  You will be charged the normal price following the clean.

Animal mess

Please clean up any dog, cat or any other animal feces to all external areas prior to our visit.  It’s impossible for us to avoid standing in it when we are looking up at the windows.  You will be charged full price if we have to abort a clean because of this.

Last minute cancellations

If following a text reminder, a window clean is cancelled by the customer with no good reason, then Modus Cleaning Solutions reserve the right to charge full price for the missed clean.  This is because it would be too late to replace your property with another to fill your slot at such short notice.  We may alternatively decide to remove you from our books.  If you are on holiday, have contractors carrying out work, garden being worked on etc then this would be acceptable and no charge will be made.

What is the 24 hour clean guarantee?

Our 24 hour clean guarantee is our promise to you that if you are unhappy with the standard of a window clean, we will return and re-do the affected windows completely free of charge if notified within 24 hours of a clean having taken place. Please note that we operate a no refund policy but will always offer to re-clean any windows you are not happy with. Any issues raised outside of 24 hours will be subject to our discretion.

GDPR, confidentiality and email marketing

We always treat customer information in the strictest confidence. All customer data is securely stored and password protected. No paper copies of customer data and information is ever held on or off site. We comply with relevant GDPR regulations.

By using our services you agree to being contacted periodically by email to keep you updated of services, changes to business practices, any current money off schemes we are offering, as well as the use of images of ‘before/after’ images to be used for marketing purposes.  Please advise us if ever you wish to be removed from this list.

Damage

While we strive to be as careful as possible around your property, sometimes accidents do happen, such as a plant pot being knocked over and broken.  Where we have caused any damage to your property you will  be reimbursed.  However it is incumbent on the homeowner to ensure that building elements such as glazing bars, lead window trim and window/door cill end caps among others, are not loose and are capable of withstanding being cleaned by us.  We cannot be held responsible for damage caused to any loose building elements that have become dislodged.  Over time the adhesive holding these elements on will fail and will need to be renewed.

How do I pay?

Customers joining our 4 or 8 weekly window cleaning service are required to join up to our nominated direct debit payment system, GoCardless. We will send you a link to follow so you can sign up. It is completely safe and the same system used by HM Government, TripAdvisor among 50,000 other businesses.

Once a clean has taken place, payment will be taken on average 5-7 days afterwards and you will be notified by email that payment is to be taken. You are free to cancel this direct debit at any time and it is also backed by the Government’s Direct Debit Guarantee Scheme for complete peace of mind.

Payments for any of our other services may be paid for in cash, cheque or  bank transfer.
